If you are expecting a baby, you should have a backup plan in case your maternity photography goes belly up. You may need to hire a photographer right away or you could wait for the next baby. Either way, it might be worth your money or your stress.
One of the biggest problems new moms face in maternity photography is finding a good photographer. There are an abundance of photographers offering maternity photography at cheap prices, but the prices vary significantly. Some photographers charge $100 per hour, with no guarantee of the outcome. Others are much more expensive with a guarantee that your baby will be beautiful and your baby will be taken care of.
There are, of course, exceptions to these price ranges. One that sticks out in my mind is the low-budget photography studio in the USA called Verve, which is known for its low prices, beautiful work, and excellent customer service. They also have a maternity section that is very affordable.
There is a lot of variation in prices in maternity photography, and for many photographers it’s definitely a personal choice. Not all are as cheap as Verve. There are a lot of maternity photographers out there who charge more than the $30 per hour that Verve offers.
Obviously, the price difference depends on the location and the quality of the photographer. The best maternity photographers out there are probably willing to do an hourly rate of $10 to $15, but they are also willing to work with you the entire duration of your pregnancy. You can get some great images of your baby when you are on maternity leave and are able to capture her in the right time and location.
The good news is that now that Verve has finally caught up with its higher price, they can even offer a maternity photography rate of 25, but you must use their services for a minimum of 12 weeks and must be willing to do most of the work for them themselves.
If you are on maternity leave, the Verve maternity photography rate is great for now, but as soon as you’ve got your baby on the way, your maternity photography rates will go up because they will no longer be making you do the work for them. This is why many companies who advertise on Verve are trying to move into the business of maternity photography in order to stay competitive and keep the prices down.
Most companies that advertise maternity photography are doing so mainly to avoid pregnancy-related complications. They are also doing so in order to make their clients look good and keep their expenses down. But these companies are getting more and more picky about price. They don’t want to be in the position where they owe their clients something for every maternity photography shoot they do.
With maternity photography, you are not buying a product, you are buying a service. A service that is free and that you pay for in part to look good and keep the prices down. While this might sound good to some people, it is also a bit counter-intuitive. If the company is not charging you for the service, they are charging you for the product. You are basically paying for the service, not the product.
While this might sound great, it can get a bit frustrating, especially if you’re making a lot of money as a result. The beauty of maternity photography, as you probably know, is that your clients will tell you how much you can charge them, whether you are doing it right or not. But if you are charging too much, you are probably going to get rejected by your client anyway.
